Tuscarora Tuesday

I like the unusual Patriotic feel of this little purse.
Notice those same awkward tube beads are used. They are so clumsy looking and they are in almost every piece of Tuscarora Souvenir Art from this time period.
I like the way the little red and blue flowers have the double white bead for the center. I guess the artist didn't have a large white bead, so she improvised. And what do you think about that random yellow bead in the flower stem? What's up with that?? It's the only yellow bead in the whole piece. I wonder why she did that.

the yellow bead is to keep from being totally perfect, and offending the gods, at least that is what I have always been told

I was thinking maybe the yellow bead had accedently fell in with the other beads, and they didn't know they had used it untill they had finished the purse, and by then it was to late to remove it. That's the only thing I could think of lol. Thanks for sharing ^_^

I agree with moonlitfantaseas--the yellow bead was definitely used on purpose. Maybe not so much as to risk offending, but rather to appear more humble.

It is a stunning piece of bead work. It has set me to thinking though...I had planned to put 4 gold beads in any piece of beaded embroidery that I do. 1 for family, 1 for friends, 1 for faith and the last one for appreciation, without all these 4 things in my life I probably wouldn't create anything. Now I am thinking I need to explain this fact to whoever gets one of my pieces or years from now someone may be wondering why I did it too! Thank you for sharing with us! Big hugs Beth
