Poppy Progress

After working non-stop on Poppy the first day, my week has been too busy to do anything but hold her and stare at her sweet face! We are gearing up for our annual camping trip and between getting things together for that and a busy week at work, left no time for Poppy. But here is how she is coming along.

I started using the vintage nail heads (I think that's what they are called) as a necklace, and then it turned into more of like an outline that went around her back and before I knew it, I was stitching a field of poppy buds on her skirt and filling in with a carpet stitch (boucle) around that.
Which really hides the buds, but I'm just going with it and see what happens.

Lisa also gifted me this crazy curved needle which I'm still getting the hang of, but it is really neat!

I wish everyone a spectacular safe 4th of July--get out there and "oooh" and "aaah" at everything our great country has to offer and ignore the rest :) I'll be busy tree-hugging!

Lynn Poppy is going to be a stunner! She is really looking beautiful! I have yet to try a bead art doll. Do you find that the curved needle makes it easier to work on your doll? I have heard it does, once you get used to it. I cant wait to see her finished! Hugs, Tracey

It's really fun to see Poppy come alive...Do you have a reference for carpet stitch or boucle? I always see you do the coolest stitches...is there a book that has them or an online source? I especially like Poppy's nailhead tummy. Happy Fourth!

She is a *DOLL* and you are doing a beautiful job with her! Yes, vintage nailheads and they look great and so does the butterfly too! LOVE the poppy buds and boucle is a great fill in stitch. She is coming along great.

Crazy and dreaded curved needle...but the more you get the feel of it...the easier it gets. Don't they work great! Before I found out about them, I even wondered if there was a really fine fish hook or suture needle that I could use as a needle! :)

Your camping trip for the 4th sounds wonderful! I hope you had a great and safe trip...and enjoyed some fresh air and fun!

Talk to you soon...~Lisa
