Ugly meets Ugly

Although I have responded to each of you who took the time to send me your strength and encouragement, I just wanted to give a 'public' shout out too to thank you from the bottom of my blackened heart for reaching out to me.  It has helped me breathe again and although this situation is beyond miserable, I will try not to drag my beading blog into the pit with me!

Since my mood is still a bit ugly, I thought I'd share what I consider to be the ugliest thing I've ever made.  It was a class and the kit was provided with the class.  Granted, I picked the kit, so really I can only blame myself!  I don't know what I was thinking:

Its supposed to be:    a photo album or scrapbook cover.
What it really is:    a 12" square of pure ugly.

These calla lillies took forever!  They were made in two pieces and the bottom piece is completely beaded, which you don't even see.  Sewing the tops to the bottoms took a lot of hand strength to get the edges to line up so they would curve.

So, yesterday I went to the Gem Fossil and Mineral Show which is this huge awesome event every spring hosted by the Buffalo Geological Society.  As a bit of a 'rock hound', I look forward to this show so much!  Just to see the amazing crystals and fossils that lie under our earth's crust is mind-blowing.  Yes there are some bead vendors, but honestly as hard as it is to believe, I don't even look at those vendors' tables.   It is the natural treasures that make me drool!   What a great way to spend the afternoon.

Today promises to be another fun day.  Meghan and I are going to get her prom dress fitted.    I'm going to take my camera so hopefully I can get some good pics of the beading on the dress.  Its awesome!  Time to bring back the pretty!!

Thanks again for putting up with my rant in the last post.  I think I heard Debbie Downer packing her packs this morning.  Now I just have to kick her to the curb......can somebody call a taxi? lol

Hi Lynn
Everyone needs a place to vent and its not unusual to find a vent or two in someones blog. Gosh, you can't go through life without having a few down times. You just must pick it up and move on.

Funny that you picked now to show us what you consider to be a beading imperfection. As beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suggest that you put the piece away and just don't look at it again for a looooong time.

What a fun time to focus on...prom. I got to live through that twice with Laurie. Second only to a wedding.

We all look forward to seeing the dress, especially since you are raving about the beading.

Be well and be kind to yourself.
xx, Carol

Is it the flower? I dunno, but I really like it! Why don't you make it into something--sometimes the finished product really brings out the shine if you know what I mean!

Glad you are at least feeling better though I am sure the reason probably hasn't changed much. Holding things in is never a good idea--so feel free to blast away anytime!

You are too funny! It is interesting. The fabric is lovely. The beadwork is quite impressive.....and yet....
Perhaps there is too much going on in one place.

Maybe if they were all individual pieces....

Dunno.

To have a friend is to be a friend....I feel as if you are a friend to each of us and would be there for us as well. If only we could solve each others problems, the world would be more wonderful!! But, alas, we'll just have to bead ourselves silly instead! I do like the design of the calla lilly!

(giggle)I think we all have some "ugly" stashed somewhere! In all fairness the flowers looked hard to do and they look flawless! So thats something.

Lynn, that doesn't look ugly to me...strange, but not ugly. You work is amazing & you know that could be remade into something fabulous.

Don't worry about being a Debbie...we all go through that at times & hey! You deserve to be down a little. Heads up, Sun is out, squirrels are running in the yard...OMG, I sound like my dogs.
